Fee Information
How much do I charge?
This is always a legitimate question. Because I have lower overhead, I usually try charging less than other attorneys. Moreover, I have been practicing for about two years. This also should reflect on my charges. I am very much result’s oriented. Each represented case for me takes on a personal note. I always look for ways to help my clients and achieve those results that client wish. Therefore, in most cases the structure of my fees is as follows:
- I charge the initial retainer fee in the range of $300.00 to $800.00, depending on the complexity of the case
- This retainer fee would be applied to my hours spent on the case and is generally non-refundable
- A retainer is generally a commitment of my clients to stay through the coarse of legal representation and for me to put on many hours to study, research and defend the case
- I am accepting contingency cases, where, after a small initial retainer which I call a commitment to a representation, I would receive reimbursement only upon winning my client’s case; I would get a percentage from the actually recovered amounts, generally in the range of 20 to 35%; that means, I am very much motivated to prevail in the case for you (PLEASE NOTE: I AM OFFERING NO GUARANTEES!): personal injury cases and employment discrimination cases are examples of that fee arrangement
- I do not advance the cost of representation on behalf of my clients; therefore all court fees, mailing and postage fees, records production requests, and outside serving and copying services are the responsibility of my clients
- In case if matter must be litigated, I charge an hourly rate from $100.00 to $200.00 for the time actually spent on the case and often forgo many hours spent on legal research
- Many legal matters could be negotiated on a fixed fee basis: just call, briefly discuss your matter and offer your fee – if I feel it is fair, I will take it or negotiate mutually acceptable solution; this fee arrangement could apply, for example, to bankruptcy cases or drafting/reviewing legal documents
- Generally, my clientele are not rich; I am very much aware of this situation and try not to overcharge hardworking people
It is hard to foresee all circumstances and predict all fees. The fee will depend on the each individual case and will vary depending how much time I must spend representing you. The best way to work with me regarding fees is to tell me your problem, and I will let you know upfront what to expect. If you agree, we will put it in writing and sign retainer. From that point, your representation becomes much more predictable in terms of legal fees.
